What Word Should You NEVER Use In A Relationship?

Using the word "should" in a relationship can be dangerous. Saying you "should" do this or you "should" do that implies that you are holding your relationship to a standard that's set by people outside of your relationship. Maybe it's your friends or family that are encouraging you to do something they think you "should" do. Whatever it is, here's why you should leave the word out of your relationship according to relationship expert Andrea Syrtash.

  • We decide what we really want - Why let anyone else decide what you should do.
  • We forget to use the right word, which is "want" - This makes us more authentic and happier.
  • You start to look at what you want - Syrtash says this helps keep us accountable for dating people we would date if no one else was looking.
